I have 38 years experience in all aspects of forestry in native forest management and assessment of resource and vegetation identification and

exotic and native species plantation planning, implementation and management as well as having 7 years experience in planning and management of native species irrigated with effluent.

Previously I was employed by the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries for 38 years in operational forestry however most of my time was spent in Forestry research. Initially I started my career in NQ then worked in western Queensland before settling as a forestry researcher in southern coastal Qld.

Post graduate diploma in forestry studies from the University of Qld (St. Lucia). Master of Philosophy in Forestry Science submitted June 2008 (Qld of University, St.Lucia).

Winner of the Client Services Award for Innovative Science 2003 by the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries (Qld).

Winner of EPA (Qld) Sustainability Partnership award with Dhugamin CDEP, Wide Bay Water Corporation and Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries (October 2008). Lee Tonkin is acknowledged as the founder of this project.
